Yes, it’s the new year, and it’s normal to start thinking about all of the things we want but don’t have yet. We examine ourselves and look for the parts that we aren’t happy with.
We believe that we have to change because we don’t feel satisfied and comfortable with the way we are now.
You might be trying out a new diet, exercise regime, or better nutrition. You are probably creating new, more ambitious goals for yourself because we’ve been conditioned to believe that the more we have (stuff, money, sex, new shoes, etc.) the better our lives will become.
But I’ve learned that adding more and more to our already busy lives doesn’t work in the long term. It’s exhausting! Our lives and schedules are packed full. I’m sure your calendar is bulging with appointments, meetings, and other commitments for the year. And, it’s only January.
I don’t know anyone who is looking for more stress. Do you? I bet you’d like to let go of some. See if this short exercise helps.
Consider these questions:
- What are you holding onto that no longer serves you?
- What tired old beliefs are you still carrying?
- How can you do more of what you love, and less of what you don’t? (That’s my personal favorite.)
By asking these types of questions, you can identify extra weight and stress that you are holding onto and make new choices instead.
What you’ll find is that when you let go, you’re free to leap higher.
